Corporate AI Investment Surges as Enterprises Prioritize Generative Tech
Over half of enterprises now prioritize artificial intelligence above all other digital technologies, leading to billions in new funding. The pandemic and the rise of generative AI tools heavily accelerate this ongoing financial boom.
A new survey from Accenture reveals that 63% of organizations currently prioritize artificial intelligence over all other digital technologies. This intense focus aligns with McKinsey data showing that over half of companies dedicate more than 5% of their digital budgets to AI, with most expecting these investments to grow significantly over the next three years.
An analysis by WriterBuddy shows that corporate backing for AI startups climbs drastically from $12.75 billion in 2015 to $93.5 billion in 2021. The pandemic acts as a major catalyst for this growth, as companies rush to automate manual processes and combat perceived productivity drops during the shift to remote work.
The emergence of generative AI tools like ChatGPT and DALL-E 2 drives an even larger financial surge, with equity funding for generative AI startups reaching $2.6 billion across 110 deals in 2022 alone. Overall global financing for AI companies jumps by 115% from 2020 to 2022, marking the largest year-on-year growth the industry has ever seen.
