Crystal Dynamics Reveals Original Avengers Game at E3 2019

Square Enix unveils Crystal Dynamics' new Avengers game, featuring an original story, an all-star voice cast, and a promise of no loot boxes. The title launches on May 15, 2020 for major consoles and PC.

Crystal Dynamics finally reveals its highly anticipated Avengers game at the E3 2019 Square Enix conference. This new title offers an original story that stands completely apart from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring a plot where the heroes must reunite to face a mysterious new threat. The initial footage showcases fan-favorite characters like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hank Pym.

The developer also announces a star-studded voice cast, including Nolan North as Iron Man, Troy Baker as the Hulk, and Laura Bailey as Black Widow. Vice President Bill Rosemann confirms that the game combines a single-player campaign with online multiplayer co-op. In a major win for consumers, Crystal Dynamics promises that the game will never include pay-to-win mechanics or loot boxes, and all future heroes and regions release as free updates.

Avengers is scheduled to launch on May 15, 2020, across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. PlayStation 4 players receive special incentives for choosing that platform, including exclusive early access to the game's beta and additional content that the developer plans to reveal later. This massive project stems from a collaborative development effort between Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.
