Major dating app companies are taking action in response to Texas' restrictive abortion law that recently takes effect. Bumble, which is headquartered in Austin, creates a relief fund to support individuals in the state who are seeking abortion care.
Match Group CEO Shar Dubey also steps up by personally establishing a fund for Texas-based employees and their dependents who need to travel out of state for reproductive healthcare. Match Group, the Dallas-based parent company of Tinder, Hinge, and OKCupid, typically avoids political stances unless they directly impact the business.
Both leaders express strong opposition to the new law, which bans most abortions after six weeks without exceptions for rape or incest. Dubey emphasizes her personal concern as a woman in Texas, stating that she cannot stay silent while the state takes what she considers a massive step backward in women's rights.
