Deezer Reports AI-Generated Music Now Exceeds Half of All Daily Uploads
Music streaming service Deezer reports that AI-generated tracks now account for more than half of all daily uploads on its platform, reaching a peak monthly average of 90,000 tracks per day in June 2026. The figure represents a dramatic escalation from just 10% of daily uploads in January 2025, climbing steadily through 40% and 44% earlier this year before crossing the majority threshold. The company has been tracking and labeling AI music since last year, using detection technology that identifies tracks generated by platforms like Suno and Udio.
The surge forces streaming platforms to grapple with divergent approaches to AI content. Bandcamp bans AI-generated tracks outright, while Tidal cuts off monetization for them. Apple Music relies on a voluntary tagging system, and Spotify has developed its own policies around AI-assisted music creation. Deezer is now taking additional steps by removing AI-generated tracks that have not been streamed in the past six months or are tied to fraudulent streaming activity designed to inflate revenue.
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier emphasizes that the company has spent nearly two years fighting fraud and reducing payment dilution tied to AI music. Earlier this year, Deezer made its AI detection technology available to other platforms and released a tool that scans Apple Music and Spotify playlists for AI-generated tracks. It remains unclear whether major competitors are adopting the detection tools, but the rapid growth of AI uploads underscores an urgent industry-wide challenge.
