Disney Plus Reaches 10 Million Sign-Ups on Launch Day
Disney announces that its new streaming service Disney Plus officially surpasses 10 million sign-ups just one day after its initial launch.
Disney announces that Disney Plus officially surpasses 10 million sign-ups just one day after its initial launch, citing extraordinary consumer demand. This impressive milestone easily exceeds Wall Street expectations, as analysts previously project a maximum of 8 million subscribers by the end of 2019.
The early signup numbers receive a significant boost from Verizon, which offers a free one-year subscription to its unlimited wireless customers. However, the service currently provides a seven-day free trial, meaning a certain portion of these initial users may not convert into paying subscribers for the $6.99-per-month package.
It is important to note that these 10 million sign-ups do not entirely represent a single day of registrations. Disney actually begins accepting preorders several weeks prior to the launch and starts signing up users as early as the D23 Expo fan convention in August.
