DJI Internal Corruption Scandal Leads to $150 Million in Losses

Chinese drone giant DJI investigates a massive internal corruption scandal causing over $150 million in losses.

Chinese drone manufacturer DJI discovers a massive internal corruption scandal that results in 2018 losses of over 1 billion yuan, or approximately $150 million. Employees artificially inflate the costs of materials and parts to extract personal financial gain from the global market leader in consumer and commercial drones.

The company investigates more than 40 individuals within its 12,000-person workforce. DJI dismisses several employees involved in the scheme and hands the corruption cases over to local police for further legal action.

In response to this devastating financial breach, DJI establishes a high-level anti-corruption task force to prevent future incidents. Despite the scandal, the drone maker continues its expansion plans and aims to grow its staff to 14,000 employees by the end of 2019.
