DJI Unveils Agricultural Drones and Public Safety Partnerships

DJI announces two new industrial drones designed specifically for agricultural applications. The company reveals the world’s first fully integrated multispectral imaging drone for efficient land management, alongside the Agras T16 spray drone that applies fertilizers and pesticides to field crops and orchards. These new tools aim to consolidate DJI's position as the leading drone technology provider in the commercial sector.
The drone manufacturer also launches a new initiative to support first responders during natural disasters and recovery missions. DJI partners with U.S.-based distributors like FlyMotion and Axon to equip state and local public safety agencies, including the Los Angeles Fire Department and Alameda County Sheriff's Office, with advanced hardware and software. The program provides fleet management software, thermal cameras, and on-site technical support to help save lives and mitigate risks to emergency personnel.
These public safety partnerships move forward despite an official U.S. military ban on DJI drones due to national security concerns regarding Chinese technology. Defense and intelligence officials continue to raise red flags about potential threats, although the military still occasionally purchases DJI equipment on a case-by-case basis. DJI emphasizes that over 900 public safety organizations across the United States already deploy their drones, noting that rescuers have saved at least 278 people worldwide using this technology.
