EA Play 2019 Highlights Star Wars Jedi and FIFA 20 Updates
EA skips its traditional press conference to showcase gameplay for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and new street football mode Volta in FIFA 20. The publisher focuses on detailed demonstrations rather than surprise announcements.
EA skips its traditional E3 press conference this year in favor of an EA Play event that features interviews and gameplay demonstrations for six upcoming titles. Instead of dropping surprise announcements, the publisher focuses on giving fans an in-depth look at its upcoming roster. The event provides a clear picture of what players expect from EA in the coming months.
The standout presentation is a 15-minute gameplay demo for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which shows protagonist Cal Kestis exploring the Wookiee planet Kashyyyk. The footage reveals Uncharted-style traversal mechanics like wall-running and grappling, alongside methodical lightsaber combat that emphasizes careful dodges and Force abilities over flashy moves. The game is scheduled to launch on November 15 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
On the sports side, FIFA 20 introduces the Volta street football mode, allowing players to compete in cage-style pitches with both male and female athletes on the same team. The game also features significant gameplay tweaks such as composed finishing for one-on-one shots, reworked ball physics, and reduced AI defensive support to make matches more engaging. Additionally, Madden NFL 20 receives its own gameplay reveal during the showcase.
