B Capital, the venture firm led by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, reaches a $406 million first close for its second fund. A recent regulatory filing reveals this initial capital raise, though it does not disclose the final target amount or the specific limited partners involved. This early milestone already surpasses the $360 million total that B Capital secured for its debut fund last year.
The firm positions itself as a unique bridge between established corporations and promising startups, a strategy heavily supported by its deep alliance with consulting giant BCG. Operating from a Southeast Asian base with an additional office in San Francisco, B Capital pursues a global investment strategy. Its portfolio targets key sectors such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, industrial tech, transportation, and consumer enablement.
To date, B Capital deploys capital into 19 different startups, highlighting its broad market reach and active investment approach. Notable companies in its growing portfolio include electric scooter startup Bird, insurance platform CXA, Indian fintech company Mswipe, and logistics provider NinjaVan. Saverin now focuses his primary investing efforts through B Capital, having significantly scaled back his previous personal investment activity through his Velos family fund.
