He even states that visitors to his companies will have to check their Apple devices at the door into a Faraday cage.
This fierce backlash comes just hours after Apple unveils its new "Apple Intelligence" system at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. As part of this major push to bring generative AI to its products, Apple announces a partnership with OpenAI to power certain features, such as allowing users to send complex questions directly to ChatGPT through Siri. OpenAI president Greg Brockman confirms that the chatbot will integrate directly into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS later this year.
Musk's aggressive stance stems from his complicated history with OpenAI, a company he co-founded in 2015 before departing. He currently runs xAI, a direct competitor to OpenAI, and is actively suing OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman for allegedly abandoning the company's original nonprofit mission. The rivalry clearly influences his public outrage as Apple aligns with his former company to upgrade its digital assistant.
