Facebook Announces Faster Messenger and Privacy-Focused Social Platform Vision

Messenger introduces several major upgrades designed to foster closer connections between users, businesses, and developers. The company completely re-engineers the app from the ground up to make it faster and lighter than ever before. Additionally, a new co-watching feature allows friends to discover and view Facebook videos together in real time while messaging or on a video chat.
To improve cross-device communication, Messenger launches a new desktop app for both Windows and MacOS that supports group video calls and easy multitasking. The app also introduces a dedicated space for users to easily find stories and messages from their closest friends and family. These features currently undergo testing and will roll out globally later this year.
