QAnon is a sprawling set of pro-Trump conspiracy theories that grows from a fringe movement into a shockingly mainstream political belief system. Its more extreme adherents face terrorism charges for violent actions inspired by this incoherent belief system, highlighting the real-world dangers of the collective delusion that social networks inherently amplify by connecting like-minded users.
This crackdown follows similar actions by other tech companies, with Twitter banning thousands of accounts and downranking QAnon content over the summer.
