Tracking data indicates the calls target primarily New Hampshire, with an estimated volume between 5,000 and 25,000 calls.
The fake message uses Biden's familiar catchphrase "malarkey" while falsely claiming that voting in the primary enables Republicans to elect Donald Trump. This deceptive tactic emerges as Biden's name does not appear on the official ballot due to a dispute between the state and the Democratic National Committee, prompting supporters to organize a write-in campaign instead. The origin of the robocalls remains currently unknown.
The Biden campaign condemns the deepfake audio as a deliberate attempt to suppress voting and undermine free elections.
