FarmWise Raises $45 Million to Expand Autonomous Weeding Robots
Agricultural robotics company FarmWise secures $45 million in Series B funding to accelerate R&D and deploy its AI-powered weeding systems across more farms.
FarmWise, an agricultural technology company, raises $45 million in a Series B round led by Fall Line Capital and Middleland Capital. This new funding brings the California-based startup's total equity raise to $65 million as it works to address the growing labor shortage in the farming industry. The investment highlights continued strong interest in robotics startups even as other sectors face funding challenges.
The company deploys autonomous weeding robots on vegetable farms in California and Arizona, relying on artificial intelligence to identify and eliminate unwanted plants. These machines log 15,000 commercial hours and capture 450 million crop scans to continuously improve the underlying AI database. This massive dataset allows the system to become increasingly accurate and efficient at navigating fields and protecting valuable crops.
FarmWise plans to use the new capital to accelerate its research and development efforts while expanding the rollout of its existing robotic product. Co-founder and CEO Sebastien Boyer emphasizes that AI provides the cost-effective and sustainable solutions farmers need to manage rising operational costs. As part of the funding round, Fall Line Capital co-founder Clay Mitchell joins the FarmWise board of directors to help guide the company's next phase of growth.
