Firefox 70 Launches With Social Tracker Blocking and Privacy Reports
Mozilla releases Firefox 70 across all major platforms, bringing default social tracking protection and a new Privacy Protections report. The update gives users greater visibility into the billions of tracking requests the browser automatically blocks.
Mozilla releases Firefox 70 for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS, delivering an update that strengthens user privacy by default. The browser now blocks cross-site tracking cookies from major social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn under its Standard protection setting. This expansion builds on the existing Enhanced Tracking Protection feature that already blocks thousands of third-party tracking domains without requiring any manual configuration.
Alongside social tracker blocking, Firefox 70 introduces a free Privacy Protections report that details exactly how the browser shields users online. By clicking the shield icon in the address bar, users see a breakdown of blocked third-party trackers, social media trackers, fingerprinters, and cryptominers. Mozilla reports that Firefox blocks approximately 10 billion tracking requests every day, bringing the total to over 450 billion blocked requests since early July.
The update is available for download now on Firefox.com for desktop users, with automatic upgrades rolling out to existing installations. Mobile users find the Android version arriving gradually on Google Play and the iOS version ready for download on the Apple App Store. With roughly 250 million active users relying on Firefox, these privacy and performance improvements represent a significant shift in how mainstream internet users experience the web.
