FloWater Secures $15 Million to Eliminate Single-Use Plastic Bottles

FloWater raises $15 million in a major funding round led by Bluewater to expand its purified water refilling stations across schools, hotels, and offices. The company aims to tackle plastic waste and health issues by providing a sustainable alternative to traditional bottled water.

FloWater raises $15 million in its first major funding round, led by Swedish water purifier company Bluewater. The California-based startup installs advanced water refilling stations in schools, fitness centers, hotels, and offices to provide purified hydration on demand. This new capital injection helps the eight-year-old company scale its mission to make single-use plastic water bottles obsolete.

The company targets four major environmental and health concerns, including rising obesity rates linked to sugary drinks and the massive waste generated by 40 billion discarded plastic bottles each year. FloWater also addresses the oil consumption and carbon emissions involved in manufacturing and transporting bottled water, along with the harmful toxins found in single-use plastics. These compelling arguments attract a total of 40 investors to support the growing enterprise.

Major brands like Google, Airbnb, and Specialized Bikes already use FloWater stations, which currently operate in nearly all 50 states. The business originally launches with just an $18,600 bank loan from founder Wyatt Taubman before steadily securing angel investments and earlier venture rounds. With this latest $15 million round, FloWater accelerates its expansion to bring sustainable drinking water to more locations nationwide.
