The first variants of this highly anticipated vehicle are set to become available in fall 2020.
The Mach-E features a completely handle-less door design that relies on illuminated buttons on the B and C pillars to pop the doors open safely. Inside the cabin, Ford prioritizes modern driver needs by including a dedicated tech tray equipped with a wireless charging pad, keeping smartphones out of the cup holders. Additionally, the vehicle introduces new phone-as-a-key technology to the Ford lineup for seamless entry.
A massive 15.5-inch vertical screen dominates the dashboard, drawing inevitable comparisons to the Tesla Model S, but Ford adds a unique physical volume dial at the bottom of the display. This infotainment system exemplifies the agile development approach of Team Edison, which was created in 2017 to operate faster and with less oversight than traditional automotive programs. The system's design stems from direct customer research, including insights gathered from a research trip to China.
