Ford Raises F-150 Lightning Prices Up to $8,500 Amid Rising Costs
Ford is increasing the starting prices of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup by $6,000 to $8,500 due to surging material costs. The price hikes do not affect customers who have already ordered the vehicle.
Ford raises the starting prices of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup by between $6,000 and $8,500 depending on the trim level. The automaker cites significant material cost increases and other economic factors as the primary reasons for this adjustment. New starting prices for the 2023 models range from about $47,000 to $97,000, excluding taxes and delivery fees.
These price hikes do not impact customers who have already ordered a truck and are awaiting delivery. However, the increased costs affect an undisclosed number of reservation holders who have not yet converted their reservations into official orders. Ford is the latest automaker to implement such increases, following similar moves by General Motors, Rivian, Lucid, and Tesla.
Ford announces these changes just before reopening the order banks for the F-150 Lightning on Thursday. The company temporarily halted orders last year after receiving over 200,000 reservations, though it has only delivered about 4,400 vehicles since May. Additionally, Ford reveals that updated models with a standard battery will offer an extended electric range of 240 miles starting this fall.
