French biotech startup WhiteLab Genomics raises $10 million in funding to advance its AI platform that assists in the discovery and development of genomic therapies. The Paris-based company, which recently graduated from Y Combinator, provides gene and cell therapy companies with predictive software simulations to accelerate the design of treatments for genetic disorders like cystic fibrosis, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's.

Developing gene and cell therapies traditionally relies on a slow and expensive trial-and-error process where scientists test one hypothesis at a time in the lab. WhiteLab Genomics replaces this inefficient method with a computational approach that uses machine learning and deep learning to process multiple scientific hypotheses simultaneously, predicting the optimal molecular design for a given therapy.

The platform trains its algorithms on vast datasets spanning genomic, RNA, oncologic, and protein repositories, alongside public scientific and clinical research data. By combining genetics and computational biology, WhiteLab Genomics aims to address the poor efficacy, immunological side effects, and high development costs that currently plague the gene and cell therapy industry.
