GE Adds a Bunch of Google Assistant-Friendly Smart Home Products

GE expands its C by GE smart home line at CES 2019 by tripling its product range to include full-color lights, a smart switch, a smart plug, and a motion sensor.

GE expands its C by GE smart home line at CES 2019 by tripling its product range with several new Google Assistant-friendly devices. Following the announcement of the first Made by Google certified bulbs in October, GE now introduces full-color lights that offer millions of color options in various configurations, including a flexible lighting strip.

The expanded lineup goes beyond just light bulbs to include a smart light switch for remote dimming, a smart plug, and a smart motion sensor. The motion sensor automatically controls the lighting based on physical movement and the amount of ambient light in the room, adding a new level of automation to the ecosystem.

All of these new products work seamlessly with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit without requiring users to purchase a separate smart home hub. Prices for the new hardware range from $25 for the smart plug to $40-$75 for the various lighting options, firmly planting GE's lineup in the middle of the ongoing Amazon Alexa versus Google Assistant showdown at this year's CES.
