GitHub Copilot Integrates Anthropic's Latest Claude Opus 4.7 Model

Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7 is now generally available across GitHub Copilot, offering stronger multi-step task performance and improved long-horizon reasoning. The new model gradually replaces older Opus versions for Copilot Pro+ users and requires a premium request multiplier.

Claude Opus 4.7, the newest AI model from Anthropic, is now generally available on GitHub Copilot. The model delivers stronger multi-step task performance and more reliable agentic execution compared to its predecessor. It also shows meaningful improvement in long-horizon reasoning and complex, tool-dependent workflows.

To improve service reliability, GitHub is streamlining its model offerings by replacing Opus 4.5 and Opus 4.6 with Opus 4.7 in the Copilot Pro+ model picker over the coming weeks. Following the end of a promotional pricing period on April 30th, the premium request multiplier for this model stands at 15x.

The rollout is gradual and covers Copilot Pro+, Business, and Enterprise users across multiple environments. These environments include Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, GitHub Mobile, JetBrains, Xcode, and Eclipse. Business and Enterprise administrators must manually enable the Claude Opus 4.7 policy in their Copilot settings to grant access to their teams.
