Global Mobile Users Now Spend Up to Five Hours Daily in Apps

A new report reveals that mobile users in 13 major markets spend four to five hours per day in apps, with users in Brazil, Singapore, and Indonesia exceeding five hours. The data indicates that pandemic-driven app usage remains highly elevated rather than returning to previous baselines.

A new report from data.ai reveals that mobile users in 13 worldwide markets now spend four to five hours per day using apps. Countries on this list include the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Australia, while users in Indonesia, Singapore, and Brazil even exceed five hours of daily app usage.

This sustained high level of engagement shows that pandemic-era habits persist long after lockdowns end. Instead of declining significantly, daily app usage normalizes at these elevated rates, proving that mobile apps remain deeply integrated into everyday tasks like work, shopping, and entertainment.

These findings emerge as the broader app economy continues to expand, with global app spending reaching $65 billion in the first half of 2022. Although the rapid hypergrowth of the pandemic has slowed, the industry still boasts record numbers of downloads and consumer spending across both iOS and Google Play stores.
