He explains that while generating a wide range of people is generally a good thing for a globally used tool, the AI ultimately misses the mark in this specific situation. Testing by Fox News Digital confirms that the AI repeatedly gives the same refusal when asked for a picture of a White person.
When prompted for an image of a White person, Gemini claims that fulfilling the request reinforces harmful stereotypes and generalizations based on race. The AI asserts that reducing individuals to a single image based on skin color is inaccurate and unfair, and it redirects the user to focus on individual experiences instead. This selective filtering raises fresh concerns about inherent biases and the unpredictable nature of large language models.
