Google Area 120 Debuts Tables to Automate Work Tracking

Google's Area 120 incubator launches Tables, a no-code automation tool that integrates with popular Google Workspace apps to streamline team workflows.

Google's Area 120 incubator launches Tables, a work-tracking tool that brings IFTTT-like automation to document management. Currently in beta in the U.S., the platform integrates seamlessly with Google Groups, Google Sheets, and other popular Google products. It eliminates the need for expensive, time-consuming custom solutions by allowing teams to automate tasks like collating data and handing off information without writing any code.

The platform enables users to program bots that handle routine actions automatically, such as sending email reminders for overdue tasks or messaging Slack and Google Chat rooms when new form submissions arrive. Teams customize their data interaction using grid views, kanban boards, maps, and record lists. Users also import existing Sheets and .CSV files to quickly build custom templates for surveys and various data collection tasks.

Tables offers a generous free tier that includes 100 tables, 1,000 rows, and 50 bot actions. Organizations needing more capacity can upgrade to a $10 per month paid plan, which expands the limits to 1,000 tables, 10,000 rows, and 500 actions while unlocking advanced history, sharing, and forms capabilities. Early adopters already using the tool include the Colorado Governor's Office of Information Technology, School of Rock, and the Somerset Public Library System.
