Google introduces several handy new features for Google Assistant at CES 2020, focusing on greater convenience and user control. The standout addition is the ability to schedule actions for compatible smart home devices, allowing users to command the Assistant to turn lights or appliances on or off at a specific time through the Google Home app.
Another major update is a new screen reading capability that reads web articles out loud in a highly natural voice. Users simply say "Hey Google, read it" while browsing, and the Assistant recites the text and even translates the content into 42 different languages, with support rolling out to Android phones running version 5 and above.
Furthermore, Google expands its real-time translation Interpreter Mode to public spaces like airports and hotels, and makes privacy settings much more accessible. Users now ask the Assistant questions about data privacy or use voice commands to quickly delete their recent voice recordings.
