Google releases a major July 2023 update for its Bard AI chatbot, significantly expanding its global reach to 238 countries and territories. The service now supports 40 new languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Korean, and Hindi, allowing users worldwide to interact with the AI in their native tongue.
The update introduces several new interactive features designed to improve the user experience. People in the United States can now customize the tone of Bard's responses to be longer, shorter, simpler, more casual, or more professional. Additionally, a new read-aloud feature allows the chatbot to speak its answers out loud, which is useful for multitasking or learning word pronunciations.
Google also rolls out a visual redesign that moves the main controls to the top-right corner and places previous conversations on the left side for easy pinning and renaming. Other new capabilities include the ability to upload images for analysis using Google Lens, share responses directly with others, and export generated code to more external destinations.
