Google introduces Bard Extensions, a new feature that allows the AI to connect directly with users' Google apps and services. With this update, Bard retrieves relevant information from Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights to provide highly customized responses. Users can now plan complex trips or summarize personal documents entirely within a single Bard conversation.
The tech giant rolls out its most capable Bard model to date alongside a significant upgrade to the "Google it" feature. This improved tool helps users easily double-check Bard's answers by highlighting supporting or contradicting information found through web search. Additionally, Google expands access to existing Bard features, including the ability to collaborate in over 40 new languages and share conversations with others.
Privacy remains a major focus as Google rolls out these deeply integrated capabilities. The company explicitly states that content from Gmail, Docs, and Drive is not seen by human reviewers, used to train the Bard model, or utilized to show advertisements. Users maintain full control over their privacy settings and have the ability to turn off these Workspace extensions at any time.
