Google Brings Material Design Refresh to Mobile Gmail Apps
Google updates its mobile Gmail apps for iOS and Android with a fresh Material Design look and new display features. The redesign brings the mobile experience closer to the web version with customizable density settings.
Google updates its mobile Gmail applications for iOS and Android with a fresh Material Design interface. The new look matches recent visual overhauls to other Google services like Drive, Calendar, and Docs, creating a unified experience across the company's ecosystem.
The mobile app now offers three different display density styles to match the web version, including default, comfortable, and compact views. Users see new fonts, subtle animations, and optional attachment chips, allowing them to choose how much white space appears between their emails.
The update also brings functional improvements such as easier account switching and large red warning boxes for phishing and scam emails. While the account switcher moves to the search bar, the overall redesign successfully gives mobile users the same level of control and security as the desktop platform.
