Google Brings Offline Voice Typing to Pixel Phones Via Gboard Update

Google updates its Gboard keyboard to allow real-time speech recognition that works entirely offline for Pixel users. Instead of relying on an internet connection to process voice inputs, the new system hosts the AI directly on the device to ensure faster and more reliable dictation.
Unlike traditional voice recognition tools that analyze phonemes and cause a noticeable lag, this new model outputs individual characters one-by-one as the user speaks. This character-based approach eliminates the delay that typically occurs while the software guesses the complete sentence.
The offline speech recognizer is currently available only in American English and exclusively on Pixel smartphones. Google's AI team plans to potentially expand this feature to include additional languages and more devices in the future.
