Google Cloud officially opens its new Las Vegas data center region, expanding its western U.S. presence to four total regions alongside Los Angeles, The Dalles, and Salt Lake City. This launch brings Google's global region count to 23 and its U.S. total to seven, providing businesses with more options to host applications closer to their end users.

Like other recent Google Cloud regions, the Las Vegas location offers three availability zones and supports most core cloud services. However, developers cannot yet access newer tools like Cloud Functions and Cloud Run, and features such as Cloud HSM and Secret Manager remain unavailable in this specific region at launch.

The new facility names Aristocrat, a digital gambling technology provider, as its official launch partner. Despite the current global slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Google continues to push forward with its infrastructure expansion plans, with additional regions in Jakarta, Seoul, and Warsaw still scheduled to open later this year.
