Google Cloud Launches Vertex AI to Solve Enterprise Machine Learning Crisis

Google Cloud introduces Vertex AI, a unified managed platform designed to help businesses easily deploy models and finally realize value from their machine learning investments.

Google Cloud unveils Vertex AI, a new managed machine learning platform designed to help developers easily deploy and maintain AI models. The company reveals this service at Google I/O to highlight its importance for a wide range of developers, stepping outside the event's traditional focus on mobile and web technologies.

The launch addresses what Google Cloud leaders call a crisis in enterprise machine learning, where many companies invest heavily but fail to see real returns. By consolidating various tools into a single, flexible platform, Vertex AI aims to eliminate dead-end services and significantly reduce the time it takes for businesses to see a return on their AI investments.

Vertex AI requires about 80% fewer lines of code to train a model compared to some competitors and manages the entire model lifecycle. It integrates Google's Vizier optimizer for automatic hyperparameter tuning and includes a Feature Store to help users share and reuse machine learning features, ultimately accelerating the deployment process.
