Google expands Gemini Live to support French, German, Portuguese, Hindi, and Spanish on Android devices starting today. Full availability for these five new languages arrives over the coming weeks. This expansion follows the recent rollout of the English version to free Android users earlier this week.
The company plans to bring conversational support to over 40 languages in the near future. A standout feature allows users to speak in up to two different languages on the same device, meaning a person seamlessly switches between languages mid-conversation without needing to change any settings.
Android users receive an in-product notification when their preferred language becomes available and can configure this by navigating to the Google App settings under Google Assistant languages. Additionally, Google rolls out new Calendar, Tasks, and Keep Gemini Extensions in more languages, alongside a Utilities Extension for device actions like timers and alarms, though Extensions do not yet work directly with Gemini Live.
