Google I/O 2022 Brings Immersive Maps and Broader Translation
Google unveils a stunning 3D Immersive View for Maps and adds 24 new languages to Translate at its virtual I/O 2022 conference.
Google hosts its virtual I/O 2022 developer conference and reveals exciting upgrades to its most popular services. The tech giant focuses on enhancing user experience by introducing advanced 3D mapping capabilities and expanding its translation tools to serve a wider global audience.
Google Maps receives a major feature called Immersive View, which combines aerial photography and Street View to create a rich digital model of the world. Users explore select cities like London and Tokyo later this year, allowing them to check weather forecasts, hear simulated traffic, and discover local cafes in stunning 3D detail.
Google Translate simultaneously grows its linguistic repertoire by adding support for 24 additional languages and dialects. These new additions represent the native tongues of over 300 million people worldwide, including indigenous languages spoken in regions across India, Kenya, and Bolivia.
