Google Introduces Pixel 9 Lineup With Upgraded Gemini AI Features
Google reveals the Pixel 9 series, featuring four distinct models including a foldable option and deep Gemini AI integration. The new smartphones boast a redesigned look, flat edges, and higher price points despite sharing nearly identical core specifications.
Google officially unveils the Pixel 9 series during its Made by Google event, confirming recent rumors about the highly anticipated smartphones. The lineup includes four distinct models: the standard Pixel 9, the pocketable Pixel 9 Pro, the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. These new devices feature a completely redesigned camera bar that no longer stretches to the edges, along with flat metal frames, rounded corners, and matte glass backs in a variety of new colors.
The tech giant equips the Pixel 9 series with exciting new Gemini AI capabilities that serve as a major selling point for the upgraded hardware. While the phones share almost identical specifications, a few key differences separate the standard model from the Pro variants. Both the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL include 16GB of RAM and a triple-lens camera system with a telephoto lens, whereas the base Pixel 9 makes do with 12GB of RAM and a dual-lens setup.
Screen and battery sizes represent the other primary variations across the non-foldable Pixel 9 models. The Pixel 9 Pro XL boasts a large 6.8-inch display and a 5,060 mAh battery, while the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro share a smaller 6.3-inch screen. Although the displays offer similar variable refresh rates up to 120Hz and impressive peak brightness levels, the base Pixel 9 features slightly lower baseline refresh rate limits and reduced peak brightness compared to its premium siblings.
