Google Launches Custom Gems and Imagen 3 for Gemini Users
Google introduces custom AI experts called Gems for Gemini Advanced subscribers and rolls out its highly capable Imagen 3 image generator to all users.
Google rolls out new features for Gemini starting today, bringing custom AI experts known as Gems to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers. Users create these Gems by writing specific instructions and giving the AI a name, allowing them to build a personalized team of experts for tasks like coding, career advice, or event brainstorming. Google also provides a set of premade Gems, such as a learning coach and a brainstormer, to help users get started immediately.
In addition to Gems, Google integrates Imagen 3, its latest image generation model, across all tiers of Gemini. This updated model produces high-quality images in a wide variety of styles, ranging from photorealistic landscapes to textured oil paintings. Google notes that it makes significant technical improvements to Imagen 3 while adding necessary safeguards to ensure responsible use.
The rollout of human image generation happens gradually, with an early access version launching first for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users. These updates represent the features Google originally previewed at its recent I/O event. As Gemini evolves, these tools aim to save users time on repetitive tasks and enhance creative workflows through highly specialized AI assistance.
