Google Launches Limited Waitlist for Bard AI Chatbot
Google opens early access to Bard, its new AI chatbot designed to boost productivity and answer complex questions. Users in the U.S. and U.K. can now join a waitlist to test the experimental generative AI tool.
Google opens early access to Bard, its new AI chatbot that serves as a competitor to ChatGPT. The company starts with a limited public rollout, allowing users in the U.S. and U.K. to join a waitlist at bard.google.com. Google describes Bard as an early experiment that enables users to collaborate with generative AI to boost productivity, accelerate ideas, and fuel curiosity.
The chatbot runs on a lightweight, optimized version of Google's LaMDA language model. It works particularly well for "NORA" queries, which are questions with no one right answer. Users type prompts into a blank chatbox, and Bard generates its response all at once based on predictive text generation.
Google includes a disclaimer warning that Bard may display inaccurate or offensive information. Unlike Microsoft's Bing chatbot, Bard does not provide footnotes with web sources to help users verify the accuracy of the answers. Users can rate responses with a thumbs up or down, reset the conversation, or click a "Google It" button to switch to traditional search.
