Google unveils a new Immersive Mode for Google Maps that relies on artificial intelligence to provide highly realistic views of locations. Announced at the Google I/O developer conference, this feature gives users a dynamic way to explore major cities by letting them virtually soar over neighborhoods and view landmarks up close.
The AI-driven experience allows travelers to look around an area as if they are actually there. A built-in time slider enables users to see what a specific location looks like during different times of the day and in various weather conditions, while helpful information layers highlight busy spots and local restaurants.
This new Immersive Mode works across all Google Maps platforms but launches initially in a select group of major cities, including London, New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Google plans to expand this realistic mapping experience to additional cities around the world in the future.
