Google Pauses Gemini AI Image Generation Over Historical Inaccuracies

Google temporarily suspends the ability of its Gemini AI tool to generate images of people. The company takes this step to fix what it acknowledges as "inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions" after critics heavily slam the system online.
The issue stems from Google's attempt to compensate for gender and racial representation bias in artificial intelligence. Instead of providing balanced modern representations, the system creates ahistorical images, such as depicting World War II-era Nazi soldiers as racially diverse.
Formerly known as Bard, Gemini only began offering its text-to-image generative features earlier this month. Google is currently working to correct the algorithmic overcorrection so the tool accurately handles historical requests without producing misleading visuals.
