This launch comes at a critical time as over 55 million U.S. students stay home due to COVID-19 school closures. Parents currently struggle to find kid-friendly apps that keep children engaged and learning throughout the day, prompting Google to partner with academic experts from Harvard and Georgetown to create a reliable rating framework.
Teachers rate the apps based on age-appropriateness, experience quality, enrichment value, and overall enjoyment. Families can access this curated content through the "Kids" tab on Google Play or by looking for the "Teacher Approved" badge on individual app listings, with content conveniently grouped by age brackets from five and under to ages nine through twelve.
