Google announces a massive $40 billion investment in Texas through 2027 to build new cloud and AI infrastructure. This major funding supports the construction of new data center campuses specifically located in Armstrong and Haskell Counties. The tech giant plans to grow its operations responsibly while ensuring the United States maintains the technical backbone required to lead the world in artificial intelligence.
As part of this expansion, Google commits $30 million to a new Energy Impact Fund that scales local energy initiatives and supports community efficiency programs. The company already contracts more than 6,200 megawatts of new energy generation through power purchase agreements, including a plan to build one new Haskell County data center directly alongside a solar and battery storage plant.
To support the construction of these new facilities, Google partners with the electrical training ALLIANCE to develop the necessary labor force. With Google's backing, the program trains existing electrical workers and more than 1,700 new apprentices in Texas by 2030. This effort successfully more than doubles the projected pipeline of new electricians across the state.
