Google Rebrands Bard to Gemini, Launches Advanced AI Tier and Mobile App

Google officially renames its AI assistant Bard to Gemini while introducing a premium tier and a dedicated mobile application. The new Gemini Advanced tier provides users with access to the highly capable Ultra 1.0 model.

Google officially rebrands its AI chatbot Bard to Gemini, marking a significant shift in its artificial intelligence strategy. The new name directly reflects the underlying Gemini family of AI models, which currently powers the Pro 1.0 experience across more than 230 countries and territories in over 40 languages.

Alongside this rebranding, Google introduces Gemini Advanced, a premium experience that grants users access to Ultra 1.0, the company's largest and most capable state-of-the-art model. Independent evaluators rank Gemini Advanced as the most preferred chatbot over leading alternatives, noting its exceptional ability to handle highly complex tasks like advanced coding, logical reasoning, and following nuanced instructions.

The company also launches a dedicated Gemini mobile app to make its AI tools more accessible on the go. With Gemini Advanced, users tackle longer, more detailed conversations while benefiting from improved context retention, allowing the AI to serve as a personalized tutor, an advanced coding assistant, or a creative sounding board for digital creators.
