Google Rebrands Bard to Gemini, Launches Dedicated Android App
Google prepares to rename its Bard chatbot to Gemini starting February 7, aligning the product name with its underlying AI model. The transition includes a new Android app and the debut of a paid "Gemini Advanced" tier.
Google replaces its Bard chatbot with the Gemini brand starting February 7 to better reflect the underlying AI model. The company states that Gemini Pro now powers the chatbot in all supported countries and languages, making the name change a logical step to show its commitment to providing direct access to its best AI family.
Alongside the rebrand, Google introduces a paid "Gemini Advanced" tier that runs on the highly capable Gemini Ultra model. This premium subscription offers expanded multi-modal capabilities, enhanced coding support, and deeper analysis tools for uploaded files, documents, and data.
The Gemini experience also expands to mobile devices with the release of a dedicated Android app. Users download the new application from the Google Play Store to interact through text, voice, or images, while iOS users access the features through the existing Google app.
