Google Rolls Out Custom Gems and Imagen 3 Image Generation to Gemini
Google introduces Custom Gems for Gemini Advanced users to create personalized AI experts for specific tasks. The update also brings Imagen 3, an advanced image generation model, to all Gemini platforms.
Google releases new features for Gemini that allow users to create custom AI experts called Gems. Available to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers, Gems let users write specific instructions to build personalized assistants for tasks like coding, career advice, or brainstorming. Google also provides a set of premade Gems, such as a learning coach and a brainstormer, to help users get started immediately.
Alongside Gems, Google integrates Imagen 3, its latest image generation model, into the Gemini platform for all users. Imagen 3 produces high-quality images in a wide variety of styles, ranging from photorealistic landscapes to textured oil paintings. Google implements technical improvements and safety safeguards into this model to ensure a better and more secure user experience.
The rollout of human image generation follows a cautious, gradual approach to maintain safety standards. Initially, only Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users receive early access to generate images of people. These updates represent the tangible delivery of features Google originally previewed at its recent I/O event, significantly expanding the practical capabilities of the Gemini ecosystem.
