Users access AI Mode by entering a query and tapping a new button alongside traditional filters like Images or Videos. Mobile users can also upload images or speak their queries directly into the mode.
This full-page experience is powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.0 that leverages real-time sources and Google's Knowledge Graph. The system uses a "query fan-out" technique to perform multiple related searches simultaneously, gather information across various subtopics, and synthesize the data into a comprehensive, verified response.
