Google unveils Flow, a new AI-powered video tool designed specifically for filmmaking at its Google I/O 2025 developer conference. The platform combines three of Google's advanced AI models, utilizing Veo for video generation, Imagen for image generation, and Gemini for text and prompting. By integrating these technologies into a single application, Google moves beyond just providing underlying models and enters the application layer of the AI video generation process.
Flow allows users to import or create characters and scenes from scratch while offering advanced production features. Users take advantage of camera controls to adjust angles and views, use a scene builder to edit and extend shots, and manage their digital assets seamlessly. Additionally, Google launches "Flow TV," a curated stream of clips where viewers see the exact prompts behind the videos to learn from other users' creative processes.
The new tool initially launches in the United States for subscribers of the Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra plans. Pro users receive 100 video generations per month, while Ultra users get a higher, unspecified limit alongside priority access to Google's newest video models. Flow competes directly with similar AI video startups like Moonvalley, D-ID, and Hedra by bringing these capabilities directly into Google's ecosystem.
