Google Unveils LaMDA 2 Language Model and AI Test Kitchen App
Google introduces LaMDA 2, an upgraded conversational AI that breaks down complex topics into simple steps. The company also launches AI Test Kitchen, an app that lets users interact with this new language model.
Google officially announces LaMDA 2, the next generation of its Language Model for Dialog Applications, at its annual I/O keynote. This upgraded AI system focuses on holding natural conversations, breaking down complex subjects into digestible explanations, and providing helpful suggestions in response to user questions.
The tech giant demonstrates LaMDA 2's capabilities through various on-stage examples, such as describing the Mariana Trench and offering detailed tips for planting a vegetable garden. While the model shows impressive ability to handle millions of topics without repeating conversational paths, Google acknowledges that accuracy issues remain, noting that the previous version occasionally shared false information during internal testing.
To allow public interaction with this technology, Google unveils AI Test Kitchen, a new app that serves as an interactive showcase for its AI research. This hub lets users experiment with language models in constrained, focused ways, such as exploring specific topics like dogs and drilling down into related subtopics.
