Google Unveils Pixel 4, Affordable Pixelbook Go, and New Nest Devices
Google officially reveals the Pixel 4 and 4XL with multi-lens cameras and radar-powered gestures, alongside the budget-friendly Pixelbook Go and updated Nest Mini. The new smartphones will be available on all major US carriers.
Google hosts its latest hardware event and officially unveils the Pixel 4 and 4XL smartphones, which feature dual rear cameras and radar-powered Motion Sense gestures. The new phones allow users to skip songs or answer calls with simple mid-air waves and use radar technology to speed up the Face Unlock process. Breaking from past exclusivity, Google confirms that both Pixel models will be available on every major US carrier.
In addition to the smartphones, Google introduces the Pixelbook Go, its most affordable Chromebook to date starting at $649. The laptop features a unique ridged bottom for easier gripping but removes the 360-degree hinge found on previous models, meaning it does not convert into a tablet. The company also updates its smart home lineup with the new Nest Mini and Nest WiFi systems.
Google packs the Pixel 4 with impressive camera hardware, including a 12.2-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel telephoto lens that work with Super Res Zoom software to rival top competitors. Video recording capabilities now include 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and 1080p at 120 frames per second. Furthermore, the event highlights a significantly upgraded Recorder app that seamlessly transcribes audio in real time without requiring an internet connection.
