Google Workspace Updates Bring Gemini 1.5 Pro to Side Panel
Google is rolling out Gemini 1.5 Pro to the Workspace side panel and introducing new AI features for the Gmail mobile app. The update also expands language support for the Help me write tool.
Google updates its Workspace applications by powering the side panel with Gemini 1.5 Pro, which provides users with more detailed and insightful responses. This advanced model features a longer context window and enhanced reasoning capabilities, allowing it to handle a wider variety of complex tasks directly within Gmail, Docs, Drive, Slides, and Sheets.
The Gmail mobile app also receives new AI-driven features designed to boost productivity on the go. Users now have access to tools that summarize long email threads, provide contextual smart replies, and answer specific questions about their inbox through a new Gmail Q&A function.
Additionally, Google expands the language capabilities of the Help me write feature in both Gmail and Docs on desktop. The writing assistant now supports Spanish and Portuguese, making generative AI tools accessible to a broader range of users across the globe.
