Grab Secures $1.46B from SoftBank Vision Fund, Valued at $14B
Southeast Asian ridesharing giant Grab adds $1.46 billion from the SoftBank Vision Fund to its record-breaking Series H round. The new capital pushes the company's valuation to $14 billion and supports its expansion into a comprehensive super app.
Grab receives a massive $1.46 billion investment from the SoftBank Vision Fund as it continues to expand its ongoing Series H round to $4.5 billion. This new injection values the Southeast Asian ridesharing giant at $14 billion, a significant increase from its previous $11 billion valuation. The funding round, which already includes backing from Toyota, Microsoft, and Hyundai, sets a new record for startups in the region.
The company plans to use this fresh capital to advance its super app strategy, aiming to make Grab an essential daily tool for consumers across Southeast Asia. Beyond its core ride-hailing business, the platform currently offers payments, food delivery, and third-party services from partners like Hooq and HappyFresh. This expansion directly positions Grab to fiercely compete with its main regional rival, Go-Jek.
SoftBank is transitioning its existing stake in Grab into the Vision Fund, a move it previously executed with other portfolio companies like Coupang and Tokopedia. This financial boost arrives just as Go-Jek announces its own $100 million funding push toward a $2 billion goal. Despite raising over $7.5 billion to date, Grab confirms that its Series H round remains open with a newly increased target of $5 billion.
