The leaked records show roughly 104,000 donors who contribute $9.6 million to two campaigns supporting the trucker protests against public health measures.
The majority of these financial backers are Americans, including billionaire Thomas Siebel, who donates the largest individual sum of $90,000. The data also exposes that hundreds of donors are members of the Oath Keepers, a far-right American paramilitary organization involved in anti-democracy activism.
This massive data breach occurs shortly after a Canadian court orders GiveSendGo to freeze the funds, an order the crowdfunding platform openly defies. The transparency collective Distributed Denial of Secrets provides the hacked records to journalists, painting a clear picture of a well-funded movement tied to various extremist causes in the United States.
